What is Big Cup?

It takes a community to raise a child

Becoming a new parent is one of life’s most wonderful times. But for some, this transition can be terrifying and completely isolating. With no support network to help financially or emotionally, the sudden responsibilities of new parenthood can be overwhelming. New families struggling on low incomes can find this time especially hard.

Big Cup helps new families to overcome isolation by bringing them together with regular parent and toddler play groups across Newcastle & Stoke. Big Cup offers new parents the opportunity to meet up with other local families. It offers the chance to discuss common concerns, to talk about the demands of a toddler and offers the space to smile and relax in friendly surroundings. Building a critical support network for new parents.

Give the Gift of Community

Help to create a crucial support network for new parents

The Realise Charity funds 50% of all Newcastle groups, until March 2019. But we need your kindness to continue to help struggling new parents across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-Under-Lyme.

We offer ongoing support to new parents beyond Big Cup if they need it, helping to make their homes safe for the family and transitioning parents into voluntary work, education and employment.

We’re here for new parents who otherwise would have no one to turn to. But this crucial service can’t continue without your help. We urgently need your help; can you give a little kindness today?

Do you need or want to help?

Discover Big Cup community love

If you’re a new parent who feels isolated or would just like to chat with other parents in the same situation, pop over to your local Big Cup. Drinks and interactive activities are provided free of charge, so you’ll have the time to enjoy your little ones and ask any questions you may have.

Don’t worry, you don’t need to be referred to us. Just give us a call and have a chat with one of our team. We understand becoming a new parent is hard and we know that most people need support during this wonderful, but challenging time.

Alternatively, we have many volunteering opportunities available and we need community members like you to fill those critical shoes. Call our friendly team today, on 01782 627 017, or turn up to one of our Big Cup groups in Kidsgrove, Clayton or Chesterton — we’d love to meet you.

Emergency Food Parcels

You are not alone, we are here to help

Open every weekday between 11am and 1pm, People’s Pantry provides a three-day emergency supply of food, baby products and toiletries to local families who find themselves without the basic living essentials they desperately need. Families don’t need to fulfil any criteria or to be referred to us.

If you find yourself in need of basic living essentials, such as food, baby products or toiletries, please call us or visit our pantry. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be referred to us by another organisation.
