Throughout her time at Alice Charity, Kayla has put her blood, sweat and tears into her work, recruiting new volunteers and binding the Alice team together with her beaming smile and nurturing demeanour. Kayla began as a volunteer at Alice Charity, working with family support while she was on maternity leave. Once she left, the team were at a loss without her, and offered her the job as Family Support Manager. Through this job, Kayla cultivated her natural leadership skills, nurturing and coaching everyone in the team, staff and volunteers, to identify and fulfil their potential. She took on the project ‘Buckets of Possibilities’ and secured funding for carpets to furnish the homes of many of the families that we support. From her success in this role, Kayla was then offered a Human Resources role within the Charity where she has thrived. With no prior experience of HR, Kayla took it upon herself to really engage with her new job, actively learning the rules of HR, ensuring that the charity had the correct systems and processes in place. She then went on to work with a HR expert funded by Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce to develop a volunteer recruitment and induction process unique to Alice, which has successfully recruited the thirty-five and growing volunteers we have here today. Not only has Kayla recruited volunteers, but she motivates us all through her Star of the Week, and Manager of the Month awards, ensuring that hard work is rewarded. Whilst doing all of this Kayla has just completed her NVQ level 4 in Business Management with PM Training and is going on to do a Business Studies degree at Staffordshire University in September 2017.  She continually implements her learnings into her work at Alice Charity, sharing her skills with the rest of the team, and using her vibrant and upbeat nature to instil the Alice Charity values into all of our volunteers and staff.

Kayla constantly works so hard to ensure the smooth running of Alice Charity, and inspires each and every one of our team. Being such a hardworking individual, with a passion for respect & kindness, it’s no surprise to us that Kayla has been shortlisted as a finalist.

We’d like to thank the KMF group and Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce for providing us with this opportunity to highlight the work that Kayla has done for the charity and for the families and communities of Stoke on Trent and Newcastle under Lyme.
